Design, installation, support

AXOL’s design, co-design, installation, and technical support services are intended for:

  • IT managers and systems engineers providing services to SMEs: combine your technical expertise and knowledge of corporate IT infrastructure with our specialists’ over ten years of experience in designing high-availability (HA) clusters with the Proxmox VE hypervisor, and in implementing near-zero-downtime migration plans from existing infrastructures based on VMware, Hyper-V, or other hypervisors. Working side by side, we will design and install the solution offering the best performance, maximum resilience, and the lowest TCO (total cost of ownership).

Our contracts are flexible: you can request just a few hours of on-site or remote support when needed, or opt for ongoing support.

  • Business owners: do you want to focus on your business and ensure that your IT systems run without interruption even in the event of hardware failures? Rely on the specialists at AXOL Server. If you already have a server infrastructure, we will carry out a preliminary site visit and an IT assessment at your premises to make sure no detail is overlooked. We will also help you evaluate which services are best delivered in the cloud, which should remain on-premises, and whether it is more appropriate to host your infrastructure in your own data center or in a third-party data center. Finally, we will install, test, monitor, and maintain your infrastructure over time to ensure it remains secure, resilient, high-performing, and compliant with regulations.

Housing in a green data center

If you do not have a suitable data center or would prefer to host your cluster at the AXOL data center, we will take care of installing it in the data hall racks and carrying out on-site testing.

The data center is located in the province of Bergamo and is certified to ANSI/TIA 942-A Rating 4, formerly Tier IV, the highest level of resilience defined by international standards. It also holds ISO 9001 quality, ISO 27001 security, ISO 14001 environmental management, and ISO 22237 certification for availability, security, and energy efficiency. In addition to achieving the highest levels of energy efficiency, the data center purchases only certified renewable electricity from the grid and generates a significant proportion of its own energy thanks to three proprietary hydroelectric power stations on the Brembo River and photovoltaic panels installed on all the external walls of the data halls.

Server infrastructure monitoring

The service includes real-time monitoring via a dedicated dashboard available to the customer.

For each node in the cluster and for all its associated virtual machines (VMs), a range of critical parameters are monitored: CPU, RAM, and storage usage; network activity; CPU and SSD temperatures; SSD S.M.A.R.T. data; and Ceph storage metrics, among others.

Warning thresholds are configured for all monitored metrics and automatically trigger email alerts when reached or exceeded.

If a fault cannot be detected in advance and intervention is required after it occurs, service continuity is nevertheless ensured thanks to the high availability (HA) mechanism with automatic failover.

Disaster recovery

Every AXOL cluster is designed with redundancy: this ensures data integrity and the continuity of IT services even in the event of a serious failure affecting one of the servers within it.

With every cluster, we recommend adding the optional backup server, which enables rapid service recovery in the event of human error or malicious infection, such as ransomware. But if you want complete peace of mind, we can provide you with a disaster recovery service: the data from your cluster can be encrypted and copied every night to a dedicated server in our data center in Italy, with the option of further replication in another EU country.

In the unlikely event of a major incident, such as an earthquake, fire, flood, theft, or vandalism, affecting both the production cluster and the backup server, you would still have an additional bare-metal copy of all virtual machines and associated data stored hundreds of kilometers away. You would then be able to fully restore the infrastructure on new hardware. This provides an additional level of protection at a predictable monthly cost.
